Topic: Returning to Work While Receiving Social Security Benefits
Speaker: Ben Fischer – Social Security Work Incentives Coordinator
Ben Fischer is the Social Security Administration's (SSA's) Area Work Incentives Coordinator (AWIC) for Central and South Texas. He covers an area stretching from Temple to Del Rio to Brownsville to Victoria to Bryan. His responsibilities include providing public information about the Ticket to Work program and the SSA's other work incentives, as well as providing internal training and support for those working on SSA's disability work-related programs. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and the University of Texas/Austin. For someone who is receiving disability- or blindness-based benefits administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA), the decision to return to work is one of the most important they will face. SSA has numerous programs, policies, and procedures, designed to assist in the return-to-work process, but they can be complicated and difficult to understand. Come to the Mary Lee Foundation on Tuesday night to learn about these programs, know your options, and understand your responsibilities. This program is for recipients of both Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits. Questions are encouraged by those attending.
